North Carolina Association of the Deaf, Inc.
Incorporated 1908
November 21, 2009
As a President of NCAD, I extend my warm greetings to welcome you to the NCAD’s 48th Biennial Conference. This year the theme is “Hello…We are Still Here”. It reflects Deaf Culture, ASL, technology, and education that enables our lives to be more independent and respectful.
This conference will offer great opportunities to look back with pride on the accomplishments that have been made for our Deaf people in North Carolina. We can look ahead with new ideas that will carry our prides as Deaf people. We will focus on quality of life for our Deaf people. We will also focus on leadership training to get young Deaf people together to be trained as our future leaders. Our future leaders will carry the mission of the NCAD that really cherishes our Deaf people’s good qualities of life.
NCAD became 100 years old last year. It is now 101 years old and is among the oldest state associations for Deaf people in the country. NCAD has been a very strong organization for a long time because of your great support for NCAD. Without your support, the NCAD would not be here. You have made a difference to carry the spirit of togetherness due to your commitment to providing a good quality of life for our Deaf people in North Carolina.
I look forward to seeing you in Hickory on November 21, 2009. Enjoy the conference!!
Linda K. Nelson
